The world is changing every day. Over time, what you knew is no longer what it is. Ten years ago, Vietnam is a country existing along its long coast unnoticed by the world. Today, Vietnam is no short of a wonder land full of opportunities, largely thanks to the trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
The reason doesn’t matter, it is the result that has impressed the world: Vietnam has recorded an economic growth rate surprising many other countries not only in ASEAN but in the whole world. The momentum is still there despite the foreseeable difficulties ahead.
When the current Vietnam opens up great opportunities for its citizens at home to improve their lifehood, those overseas Vietnamese who have fled the country for a better life in the past are set to benefit from the boosting and buoyant economic progress in their root country.
We have seen a lot of cases where overseas Vietnamese including their non-vietnamese children are coming back to search their root and soul in Vietnam, driven by both cultural and financial motives.
One of the reasons attracting overseas Vietnamese to come back is to inherit the estates left by their family members, generally their parents or grandparents, in Vietnam. It is undeniable that with assets in Vietnam in particular, the real properties, having increased in value in multi-folds, and overseas Vietnamese are legally entitled to the estates left by their deceased family members, even though they have been naturalized into foreign citizens. Current inheritance laws in Vietnam allow overseas Vietnamese and foreign heirs or beneficiary to inherit estates in Vietnam.

It is interesting to see history repeats itself here and there. I mean, take a look at the neighboring country China, that has undergone a similar pattern of history in relation to inheritance of estates by oversease Chinese and foreigners.
As the case with China, Vietnam is experiencing the same story, and we believe this uptrend associated with Vietnam’s booming economy will continue for a long time.
